What can we tell you about Music at Holy Family?

Holy Family Catholic Primary School is home to

The Royal Greenwich Music Service, Community Music Centre!

Having such an exciting venue in the school grounds means that our children have access to a creative, broad and progressive music curriculum delivered by two professional musicians - Anna & Enoch - who are part of the Royal Greenwich Music service. The service supports the Music curriculum and musical activities in school.

We aim to create an environment for children to express themselves, enjoy a wide variety of music and celebrate their creative talents.

Music is delivered on a Tuesday and we start the day with an upbeat singing assembly where children learn songs from artists such as Lionel Richie, Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder.

Throughout the rest of the day, Anna delivers the music curriculum to children in Years 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 whilst Year 3 make their way to the Community Music Centre for their Djembe Drum lesson with Enoch. We also provide percussion sessions for children with additional needs and keyboard lessons for children in receipt of Pupil Premium.

We are proud to say that we are the only primary school in Greenwich with a Gospel Choir!

Our Gospel Choir rehearses weekly with both Anna and Enoch and they are currently rehearsing for the 2022 Singing Spectacular. The Holy Family Gospel Choir have performed at local community events including the Berkeley Homes Christmas Market and will be singing at our Spring Fair on the 29th of March 2022.

After the February half term we will be offering small group music lessons to children in KS2 and will also launch our Musical Theatre Club and Sounds of Africa Club - please see below for more information.
