Mission Statement

The mission of our school is to provide the highest quality of education within a Catholic ethos. Through the love of God, we will foster individual uniqueness, working hard using the talents God has given us for the good of other people and to achieve our best. Together, with our families, our parish and our local community, we seek to create a safe, happy school and become confident and caring citizens.

Curriculum Rationale

Our curriculum is linked to and underpins our Mission Statement. We recognise that every child is unique and created in God’s image and look to promote the Gospel values throughout our school through words and deeds. The curriculum has been designed to allow pupils to discover their talents and gifts, to equip them with skills that will allow them to contribute to society and our world. Pupils are encouraged to attend enrichment clubs to support their learning and develop as individuals; knowing their own self-worth. The curriculum considers the needs of all learners and aims to inspire children to nurture a passion for learning.

Curriculum Intent

Holy Family is committed to meeting the requirements of the primary National Curriculum 2014. This is supported by ensuring that our pupils have access to a range of diverse experiences that support and encourage their learning. We recognise the need for our curriculum to consider the whole child through academic, personal, social and emotional development.

Holy Family is a diverse community of different faiths with 60% of pupils with English as an additional language (EAL). The school lies within the 30% most deprived areas in England (IDACI 2019). Our schemes of work reflect the content and challenge of the curriculum and our school’s individuality. A range of experiences such as Book Week, Black History, Cultural Day, specialist music teaching, extra-curricular trips, enrichment clubs, French Day and fundraising activities supports the development of children’s cultural capital and their understanding of British Values.

Curriculum Implementation

Our curriculum is implemented through subject led topics with cross curricular links. All subjects have a Lead who has responsibility for monitoring and developing their subject. The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meet with subject leads to ensure that curriculum developments and updates have been implemented. Curriculum maps can be found on our website.
